Meaning...On the Quiet
Origin...the slang term 'qt' is a shortened form of 'quiet'. There's no definitive source for the phrase 'on the q.t.', although it appears to be of 19th century British origin.
Food...is what brings us together. Do you love to eat? Well so do we! We are so passionate, not only about enjoying the food that's on the table in front of us, but also about the ingredients, the process, and the poeple we are sharing it with, that the idea of QT was created.
The ingredients...fresh, local, organic and absolutely the best we can find! Several of us on the team feel so passionately about where our food comes from, that it doesn't have to travel farther to our table than from the back yard. And in the end, it's really all about taste, right? I didn't grow up in a place were fresh was always possible, and as a result I grew up thinking I disliked many of my favorite foods today. Local, fresh produce that is grown organically and only a short drive away from where it is prepared is used while it's in its peak of flavor and nutritional value to boot!
The process...homemade and handmade is the next step to great quality food. The transformation of those fresh ingredients into something that's as pleasurable as a great meal is truly inspiring. But it's the process of adding things up to where the sum doesn't equal all the parts.
The people...good laughs and great company among others sharing in our passion for good food. Part of the thrill is the strangers at the same dining table who all have one thing in common - food! Sure everyone needs to eat, but only those attending QT events do so with such gusto and enthusiasm.
